Days of Steam
There are an awful lot of railway games about, so it's great to find one that provides something new. In Days of Steam, players lay tiles to build a network of railway lines and towns. Nothing particularly new there, but laying tiles also provides the steam players need to move their locomotive, so they have to lay tiles even if this helps their opponents.
Players can get some points from laying tiles, but most of them come from collecting and delivering goods. Again, nothing new in principle, but players need steam to move their locomotive—and can de-rail if they move too fast.
All of this makes Days of Steam a clever, tactical game that requires more thought than you might expect. This is the original edition (missing the title from the box top).
For 2-4 players, aged 10+, playing time 45 minutes: £20.00
