Master Builder
Valley Games released an interesting batch of games at Spiel '08. Master Builder particularly caught my attention as you actually get to build the buildings. Well, perhaps assemble buildings would be a better way of putting it. The game is about putting together a medieval town: several major buildings within a city wall. They come as cardboard walls and roof segments for the players to put together.
What makes the game tricky is that you have to manage your workforce. Each building segment requires a specific set of workers—and more of them as the building goes up. However, players only have limited funds to pay their workers, and the supply of workers is limited. Okay, it's not a particularly deep game, but it does require some thought and it is entertaining. And you end up with a medieval town. Well, most of one anyway.
For 2-4 players, aged 10+, playing time 60 minutes: £35.00
