Phoenicia

I am very taken with this development game from Tom Lehmann. Players start with a 'village' of hunters and farmers. They bid for cards to expand this with workers, industry and storage to create a 'city state'. Tom Lehmann has said that this game was "inspired by Civilization and Outpost" and the lineage is clear.

Phoenicia plays much more quickly than either of its predecessors, though (experienced players should find it taking close to an hour). This is a cracking game and my favourite of 2007. I have just one copy left.

For 2-5 players, aged 12+, playing time 1½ hours: £24.00
