The aim of this entertaining game is to become Pirate King by amassing the most doubloons and influence within the pirate fleet. You roll dice to make sets, Yahtzee-style, using these to take command of a ship or gain influence at a port. Die rolls can be changed by spending doubloons, which go to the ports and are shared between the players with influence there at the end of the game.
"Captain's Bonus" action cards make sure each game is different by providing a selection of different, extra actions. You can buy "Fleet Bonus" cards to get actions just for you, too.
While this is a light game, there are some tactical subtleties to engage gamers – and there are no bad die rolls (think of it as Kingsburg-lite). I found it great fun when I played it at Spiel.
