Pre-start Introduction

The game gets under way with thirteen players (unlucky for someone?). Players' start-up options have been assigned and they have an interim deadline to get their initial set-up to Mike.

F: Martin Jennings: Influential Friends - 9 Connection levels to start
G: Andrew Kendall: Friends in High Places - -1 on all Reputation loss die rolls
H: Michael Martinkat: 3 Alloy Factories at Gamma Leporis
J: Colin Parfitt: Racketeer - +1 to all die rolls on black market
K: Nathan Richards: Hi-Tech Sensors - +1/-1 to interception die rolls as desired
L: Jerry Spencer: Monarch Hull instead of Clarinet Hull
M: Matthew Wale: Hot Shot Navigators - +2 to all hyperjump chances
N: Paul Wilson: Battle Comm Pod

Three players ended up with their third choices, everyone else had their first or second choices. The most popular choices were 19 and 20, Charismatic Chairman and Influential Friends. The least popular choice was 14, Dirty Tricks Department, which only appeared on two player's lists.

Start-up

A new start in the Quadrant, and 13 Corporations have licences to trade in the systems. A lot of warehouses are purchased at Sigma Draconis and Mu Herculis, and trading is expected to be brisk here. TOTAL TRANSIT 2070 and KATCORP have already got factory production in operation. The arrival of 15 new ships in the Quadrant has produced work for maintenance staff at Gamma Leporis, Tau Ceti, Mu Herculis and Sigma Draconis in particular. Salesmen from the major yards are out touting their production facilities for those who want more hulls. NEKEKAMI was keeping people away from its ship, but it's a poorly kept secret that Deca is carrying a military pod. Federation forces are concerned about the influx of criminal groups into local space, but when questioned by reporters said that they expected to be able to cope.
