Turn 7

Police investigating the continuing series of sabotage of warehouses at Tau Ceti said that all the evidence pointed to THE CULTURE being the source of the attacks.
"We will bring them to justice," the United Systems spokesman said. "Terrorism will be conquered."
Reporters pointed out that so far only large numbers of residents not born at Tau Ceti have been rounded up and held without trial, but the spokesman declined to comment.

At Gamma Leporis TSTI bought 9 Alloys for 3 HTs each. This gained the Corporation a Contractorship. INTERSTELLAR METALS bought 6 more using Percent, but KAT KORP's bid of 3 was too late. Epsilon Eridani saw KAT KORP selling 3 Alloys for 8 HTs apiece and THE UNIVERSAL selling 2 Liquors for 17 HTs.

Delta Toucanis was busy. SHYLOCKS bought 1 Alloy for 6 HTs, and TAU CETI XPRESS's Crip, seeing that his ship hadn't arrived, exercised his discretion and didn't use his special contacts. TCX wanted to sell Isotopes at 8 HTs but, without any to sell, retreated. THE UNIVERSAL bought 6 Petroleum for 10 HTs each and gained a Dealership. THE CULTURE bought 3 more at a price of 9 HTs. KAT KORP's bid of 7 was ignored.

THE CULTURE bought 9 Isotopes for 4 HTs each and won a Dealership at Tau Ceti. Then SHYLOCKS sold 5 on Contract and KAT CORP bought 5 on Contract. TCX wanted to buy at 2, but the price bid was too low. INTERSTELLAR METALS sold 14 Petroleum at 12 HTs apiece to get a positive cashflow at last and a Dealership.

Mu Herculis saw the UNIVERSAL failing to sell Isotopes at 7 HTs and then not buying Petroleum at 11. It was outbid by TT2070: buying 7 units for 12 HTs each and obtaining a Dealership. TT2070 sold 6 Liquor at a price of 16 HTs and became a Contractor, for another success this Quarter. SWISS MERCENARY FLEET sold 12 Monopoles for 12 HTs each and gained a Dealership as well.

THE UNIVERSAL did better at Sigma Draconis, buying 6 Isotopes at 7 HTs and letting TT2070 sell 3 for 3 apiece. BLAND & BRASS bought 5 Spice at a price of 12 HTs, one too few to have a chance of a Market Position. THE UNIVERSAL's bid of 11 was too low to collect any goods.

Alpha Centauri had stiff competition for Alloys: won by TSTI who bought 7 units for 11 HTs each, leaving THE CULTURE (bid 10), KAT CORP (bid 8) and SHYLOCKS (bid 8) with none. TCX sold 6 Isotopes for 4 HTs apiece and TSTI sold 7 Spice at 15 HTs. TSTI wanted to buy Liquor, but bid too low, while SWISS MERCENARY FLEET continued to try to sell its non-existent stocks. One day they will look in their warehouses first.

Beta Hydri saw THE CULTURE unloading the first 6 Monopoles at 18 HTs each for a profit and a Dealership. KAT CORP couldn't sell Isotopes at a price of 8 HTs but TCX sold a single unit for 6 HTs.

The curse of NEKEKAMI strikes again! No sooner had the Tsar been renamed TCX07 and sent to carry Isotopes to Delta Toucanis, than it was intercepted by KAT CORP's new ship, the Dagger Hull "Leopard", and surrendered tamely with its cargo of Isotopes. NEKEKAMI's attempt to slander THE CULTURE with a serious of black propaganda adverts was exposed by a zealous reporter and the Corporation's Reputation suffered a large loss. This loss should have increased further when the troubled Corporation failed to make its interest payments on its loans. A spokesman said that the Corporation was looking to re-structure itself imminently.

TSTI bought a 15th Alloy Factory, as part of their increasing Political Connections to 5 and an investment in Alloy production and local business on Gamma Leporis. OP 39 was loaded onto Zorro at Gamma Leporis. KAT CORP and TSTI swapped Alexis, who now works for the Kat, for warehouses at Gamma Leporis and Alpha Centauri and an undisclosed amount of cash.

KAT CORP then went on to hire Red Choir, leaving agent Z as the only one not in employment, and sold a spare Light Weapons pod at Alpha Centauri for a loss. TCX are furious at KAT CORP using their Dagger Hull to capture TCX07 in Delta Toucanis System Space and rumours that the ship will be renamed Tiddles have infuriated the Tau Ceti based Corporation.

INTERSTELLAR METALS bought 3 more Isotope factories at Tau Ceti (because their production keeps blowing away into space?) and paid to increase their Reputation by 3. For the first time in a while, the corporation made an interest payment on its loan on time.

NEWBIE bought a D crew for their new Phoenix hull launched at Tau Ceti and called Vengeance Maybe. Amy was instrumental in helping the Lart to jump from Beta Hydri to Tau Ceti. SHYLOCKS delivered the Ambassador before jumping their ships out of system again.

BLAND & BRASS were increasing both their Reputation and their Business connections.

THE CULTURE are happy. Not only did they destroy large quantities of their competitors' Isotopes on Tau Ceti - though with grievous Reputation loss as the Corporation was hit with suits for damages - but they also now display legal papers for all of their ships, putting to bed the slanders of NEKEKAMI. The new ships no longer bear signs of damage and 3 new cargo pods were bought for the Life. Fire now has a B crew too. Federation banks were happy to make a 400 HT loan over 4 Quarters and, with this influx of funds, Political Connections were increased to 9 and the corporation's Reputation increased, but only by a small amount. It was enough to stave off an inquiry and THE CULTURE are happy with the way things are going.

KatKorp expresses extreme displeasure at the on-goings at Tau Ceti. First, the blockade and associated required bribes for free passage. Then salvation as the pirate ships are grasped from the scurvy hordes to clear the sky once again for safe travel. Then my wares are destroyed, and apparent evidence implicating the saviour of Tau Ceti. Well, a review of the capabilities of the suspect corporation has lead me to believe a frame-up has been made. Considering this, I will now hunt down the likely suspects in the pursuit of justice, or at least compensation.

Drew "The Fisk" Vanderbilt-Scott, the "hands on" Chairman of Trans Solar Trucking Inc., emphatically denied suggestions that TSTI had any connection with the recent damage at Tau Ceti Spaceport. "Careful forensic examination of extent of the damage indicates that Criminal Connections alone could not have been sufficient. Additional agencies must have been involved. Nekekami Corporation acquired the services of Poum some time ago and, although they did their best to suppress this information, it is now public knowledge - as are their Criminal Connections. You can forget about Interstellar Metals: Dwarf just isn't good enough. It is absolutely certain that The Universe is not to blame for these outrageous attacks. Before anything more is said about TSTI, Mr Capone from Suem Billum Fleeceum Inc will talk to you about the benefits of our Healthcare Policies. Live long and prosper."

Federation officials are not aware of any Corporation going by the name of The Universe, and hope that information can be laid to elucidate further the identity of the accused.
