Summit: the Board Game
This is a clever and challenging game of mountaineering. It can be played as a co-operative game, or competitively – or even solitaire. In co-operative mode, the players are a team racing against the clock to get to the summit and safely back down again. Or, competitively, the players race against each other.
Either way, players lay triangular tiles to establish climbing pitches up the mountain – coming down is faster, since they use the existing routes. They must first outfit themselves with the right equipment to cope with the conditions they will encounter as they ascend and descend. The problem is that carrying all this stuff really slows you down!
And then there's karma: helping other players improves yours, giving you reserves to deal with events. However, hindering others reduces your karma, leaving you more vulnerable. This is a clever balancing mechanism that gives players tough decisions to make.
For 1-6 players, aged 14+, playing time 1-3 hours: £55.00 (£45.83 without tax outside the EU)
