The Last Kingdom
As a fan of Bernard Cornwell's books (and the TV series), I couldn't resist this. It's an opportunity to play out the conflict between the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms and (mostly) Danish invaders that (historically) culminated in the creation of a unified England in the first millennium.
However, players have a foot in each camp and the game is as much about managing your 'affinity' with each faction as it is about winning battles – you need both to score well. Players' leaders (including Uhtred, son of Uhtred, of course) are represented by nice little model figures – an attractive feature of the game.
For 2-5 players, aged 14+, playing time 60-150 minutes: £46.00 (£38.33 tax free outside the UK)
