The idea is that players are explorers in the mould of Alexander von Humboldt, documenting the terrain and creatures of South America. In game terms, players are laying tiles into a grid in front of them, linking up the rivers and adding different landscapes and animals. At the end of the game, they'll score for both of these – just for what they have or in comparison with other players.
Of course, each animal scores in a different way and, interestingly, there aren't that many points on offer. What makes this trickier is that where you place each tile dictates which tile you draw at the end of your turn. And thus what you play on your next turn. At least you've got other players' turns to go through the options of where to place it.
It's an engaging theme with some fiendish gameplay – I expect nothing less from this designing duo.
For 1-5 players, aged 9+, playing time 20-40 minutes: £20.00 (£16.67 without tax outside the UK)
