Darwinning!

I discovered this game at Spiel '18, but then it disappeared until recently. As the title suggests, evolution is the theme. Players improve their species by adding traits, adapting to new environments, producing offspring and gaining food. They do these with the cards they gain by winning 'tricks' with the best Poker-style set. Though there's a neat twist at the end of each hand (or Era).

Final scores depend on all the ways players' creatures have 'evolved' and competed with each other across the Eras. It may be a fairly light game, but Darwinning! is not without its challenges and is a thoroughly entertaining game that does not outstay its welcome.

For 2-6 players, aged 9+, playing time 45-75 minutes: £15.00 (£12.50 tax-free outside the UK)
