Fate of the Fellowship

The Fellowship in question is, of course, from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, here given the co-operative game treatment by Matt "Pandemic" Leacock. No surprise that the players take on the roles of members of the Fellowship (and other characters in the books), aiming to ensure Frodo completes his quest to destroy the One Ring.

Ranged against them, the game throws armies of orcs, Sauron's powerful Nazgûl minions and the Dark Lord's own always-open, searching eye… Not to mention the question of whose side wizard Saruman is. It's just so evocative of the books for me.

Players have to achieve several objectives before the ring can be destroyed. These are drawn at random, so the game is different each time you play. And changing the characters used brings different abilities into play. It's wonderfully atmospheric while keeping players on edge all the way through.
