Nucleum
Let's say nuclear power was first developed in 19th century Saxony – that's the premise behind this complex game of industrial development played across a map of Saxon cities. Players get to build railway lines linking the cities, add industrial buildings to them and provide electricity to power the buildings (flipping them for victory points).
At the heart of the game are player's 'Action' tiles. Playing one allows you do something and it's then added to a row, potentially increasing your income. However, these tiles are also what you play to build railways. So you're definitely going to need to get more of them...
There's an awful lot going on in this game and I thoroughly enjoyed the first time I played it (despite not necessarily understanding all the rules!). I'm also taken with the echoes of Brass (connect towns with railways, construct buildings and flip them for points). However, it has a very different central mechanisms.
The Australia expansion moves the action down under.
For 1-4 players, aged 14+, playing time 60-150 minutes: £50.00 (£41.67 tax free outside the UK)
