Bios: Origins (2nd ed)
The third (and final) part of the Bios series concentrates on humanity. Or rather " How we became Human" . At the start, each player controls a sub-species of proto-Human and develops it in an effort to become dominant. And development here means in terms of brainpower and the acquisition of skills – such as language.
As the game progresses (there are four Epochs, each with different goals), Homo Sapiens emerges – though possibly (probably?) not in its historical form, as the adaptability to deal with each Epoch is a major factor.
Apart from points scored for achievements in each Epoch, players are aiming for a final score in three aspects of human society: culture, politics and industry. It's a marathon, not a sprint. And if you want a real marathon, you can start with the very beginnings of life in Bios: Genesis before evolving creatures in Bios: Megafauna.
For 1-4 players, aged 14+, playing time 2-4 hours: £64.00 (£53.33 tax free outside the UK)
